Default Painting On Canvas Of Giuseppe Trotta Signed Mae O'MEARA

Trying to find more info on the signed artist MAE O'MEARA. There is a lot of back papering but nothing specific on his biography.

There are small damages on the canvas but still in overal good condition. Any help with the value?

thanks in advance!

Maybe just a typo on your part, but Mae is presumably a women.

There are a few snippets on Google books.
From "Women artists in America: 18th century to the present (1790-1980):

"O'MEARA, Mae. Painter. Born: Weehawken , New Jersey. Studied: Brooklyn Museum School of Art, with Konzal; also with Guiseppi Trotta, and Ben Wilson. Awards: Smithsonian Institute, 1950, 195l; Douglaston Art League, 1947, 1948"

So this is a portrait of one of her teachers.

From "Who's who of American women and women of Canada: Volume 5", 1968:

"O'MEARA, Mae Golden (Mrs. Jeremiah P. O'Meara), artist; b. Weehawken, NJ, Mar. 5, 1900; d. Hugh and Mary (McGinn) Golden; student St. Agnes Acad., Art Students League, Bklyn. Mus. Art Sch.; pvt. instrn.; m. Jeremiah P. O'Meara, Oct. 2,"

I did not know Guiseppi Trotta was her teacher. By the way it says on the back "Portrait of a teacher" .
Any idea on the value ?

Findartinfo.com has a record of a sale of one of her paintings (a still life) for $100.

Default Mae O'Meara

Found this site quite by chance, after tapping Mae O'Meara's name into Google Search. I studied with Mae back in the mid to late '50s - started with charcol, up through pastels and eventually oils. Her husband Jerry was an acomplished artist, specializing in miniatures - portraits as I recall. Jerry (or Gerry) passed away in the late '50s. Lost touch with Mae not long after that, but have fond memories of her classes, and her tolerance of this overeager beginner.

I found this site quite by chance, after entering Mae O'Meara's name into Google Search. I studied with Mae O'Meara in the mid to late '50s at her studio in Flushing, NY. Her husband Jerry was an accomplished artist in his own right, specializing in miniatures - portraits as best I recall. Jerry passed away in the late '50s. One of Mae's students during that period was an Olympic competitor, possibly a medalist, but I don't recall her name or which event. Sad to say I lost touch with Mae during the early '60s - memorable times, but I have fond memories of her, and her tolerance of an overeager beginner.
