Alfred Joseph Auguste Van Nest (Bruges 4 March 1874 – Ukkel 1969) was a Belgian painter, graveur, landscape painter, illustrator and designer of posters, stamps and book ties. He was a nephew and pupil of Florimond Van Acker (1858-1940). He followed classes at the art-academies of Bruges and Antwerp and became later an instructor/teacher at the Antwerpse Academy for antiquity and costume knowledge (from ca. 1900). . He painted picturesque spots of Belgium and Holland but did that also in Brittany and Venice.
He spends most of his life in Antwerp. Self establishes after WW II in Ukkel. Work can be found in the Museum of Antwerp.

The Château de Ravenstein. This manor farm has a history that stretches back to 1460 with Louis The Good, Duke of Burgundy. The first stone of the present Château was laid on 12th August 1748 by Charles-Henry Francolet de Terweynt. After several changes of ownership, the last being the Prince of Orange in 1826, the property was bought from the Belgian State in 1880 by King Leopold II who presented it to the "Royal Donation" in 1903 so that it could become the Club House for the projected golf course and it still is today.

Default Chateau de Ravenstein

Thank You for your info but, I actually have a print called "Chateau de Ravenstein" by Alfred Van Neste. This print was found under another old print that belonged to a relative. I had it matted and framed just because I liked it but, really knew nothing about it. Does anyone know where I could find out it's worth, if any or anything about this particular print?
