Hello: I am a total amatuer when it comes to art, but need help identifying a image of what I believe to be a painting at least as old as the 19th century. I have attached a photo of the painting.
A little background: I was asked to sell this for a friend on ebay and she told me that it is a type of photograph of a painting from the 1890's for use in books, posters and magazines of the period. It is printed on a very thin piece of paper like velum. If anyone knows the name of the painting and/or artist please respond. Also, if anyone knows the name of the proceedure for photographing the painting please let me know as well. I have done some research and come across the "Gum bichromate process", but I am not sure this is what it is. Thanks a million, John |
