I'm not sure where you are located but I also have been trying to locate an appraiser. So far, the cheapest I have found is $100 US per hour.

John Marin 1870-1953. Not much info available but this might help: Try The Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts and The Art Students' League in N.Y. I think they might be able to give you a suggestion. I am told he was considerably aided by the generous patronage of Alfred Stieglitz. My friend tells me he began life as an architect but came over to Paris where he was influenced by Whistler. In 1913 he took part in the ARMORY SHOW. N.Y. (Met Mus) and Washington (Phillips) have his work. One of these might be able to give you a lead. L.S. Field |
