  • Artist R. Boren?

    Hi,

I recently acquired a painting from my grandmother. The painting has a signature of R. Boren. It is a painting of a mountain, cabin, and a waterfall. I found paintings similar to it on Ebay but found no real information about the artist. Does anyone know anythign about this painter?

    Thanks!

I have one of his paintings also. I bought it at a yard sale for $5.00 because the renters thought it was ugly! Stupid people!!! I also would like to know more about this painter / artist.

I have one of his paintings as well, picked it up at a yard sale for 50 cents...Its a painting of a ship, beautifully done with a very charming color scheme. Its large, and is an original canvas painting, near as I can tell. I'd love to know what it's worth.

I have a painting from R. Boren of a beautiful montain scene. Looks just like the painting one of the other postings explained but without the waterfall. I bought it at a garage sale for $5 and we were actually looking to get rid of it because it no longer goes with the decor in our house. After some research, we are keeping this!!

            R Boren

            Hi everyone !

I think that when we are trying to find out about an artist we should take a picture of the art and sent it in. I also have a picture of his and will send it in as soon as I down load it in my files it is painted with lots of grey and soft white of mountains, clouds, waterfall, trees and a lake., sending the picture will help everyone because we want to be sure they are not the same. Remember no one can paint the exact picture, I paint and tried to paint the some picture 3 times and none of them are completly alike and the only way to have them alike is to have them copied by machine.
            thanks baysis
I forgot to ask can we send in pictures ?

I also have a 24"x48" oil painting by R Boren, and i had it checked out by a well known oil painter, and he was 99% sure it was an original. It has a rough textured paint, meaning u can feel the raised spots all over it.Also said that the signature looked authentic. It also has a cabin in the mountains, with a stream and waterfall.Real nice canvas, with antique grey wooden frame.I also got this one at a yard sale in leftover items, for free and was wanting to find out a lil about it. Thanks!

                        R. Boren Painting

I also have a 36X24 R. Boren canvas painting of a cabin, mountains and waterfall. It was given to me as a gift and was told that they purchased it at a Art Gallery, and I should hold on to it due to the fact that it was expensive and would be worth alot in time..
If anyone has information, please let me know.
                        Thank you,

                            R. Boren

It appears that there are a lot of paintings by this artist out there - and that they are quite alike.

It may be that they were all painted by a group of Asian artists that sell their paintings through Furniture stores and the like for prices ranging from $100 on up to a $1000.

That's what these appear to be. There are just too many that are alike. what happens is that there is a painting that the group copies from - in this example, a 48" painting with mountains, a waterfall, valley, and a cabin. All the artists are paid to paint the same picture - as close a copy as they can make. And they always signe it in the lower right hand corner (looking at it) with the same name - R. Boren.

These paintings don't have much artistic value - they are usually made using a basic palette and a knife - the knife is used to make most of the paint strokes - trees, birds, leaves - etc. it's quick and efficient. And by the way, looks beautiful to the untrained eye.

Only a trained art student, or a master will see these paintings for what they truly are - mass produced for the masses.

Why do you think most end up in yard sales? at flea markets? at Goodwill? and for what? 50 cents? a dollar? for free?

But as we all know, beauty is in the eye of the beholder - there are fans of R. Boren's works out there - whether or not they are truly by him/her or not, or by Asian Art Students making a quick buck.

Art is meant to be enjoyed, right? so enjoy it, but don't think about selling it, because you'll most likely have to give it away - or let it languish on Ebay like those paintings for sale have been languishing for years. yes - check completed listings and you'll see that R. Boren paintings never sell at all - nope, never......and you wonder why?

                              real or not ?

                              Hi - I have a R.Boren painting as well. Of a single ship - 4 height sails -
(from the base there is 1 sail, 2nd line has 3 sails, 3rd & 4th heights are 1 sail.)

Definitely an oil based painting. How do I find out its authentic or not -
                              I'm based in Australia.
