  • Possible Pehr Hallsten Painting, But No Visible Signature

Trying to connect this with Swedish artist Pehr Hallsten (1897-1965). Titled "Ancestors" and dated 3/2/56, this is a tempera painting (a common medium of his). The painting, about 6 x 12, displays Hallsten's style, and on the back is written the date, "Pehr" (as he often signed his paintings), the title ("Ancestor") and "tempera". Hallsten often signed his paintings far down below the art, so this piece may indeed be signed, but as tempera is a delicate medium, I would not want to dis-assemble the framing job. It has been carefully framed with UV glass, done by a firm known as "McDowell's U-Frame-It", located in Washington state (where Hallsten lived and worked for much of his life.) Havn't been able to find a record of this painting, so everything is circumstantial thusfar. If anyone recognizes this painting, or would like to comment on the style, I'd appreciate your thoughts.
