This was a franchise business kind of like Tupperware or Pampered Chef. They would come to your home with a selection of different paintings on canvas and the host would invite friends and neighbors to the "party". The host would get a credit toward the purchase of items based on how much the party brought in. You could buy a painting and customized frame. They would deliver the framed paintings a few weeks later. They also recruited you to start your own dealership.

We purchased a dozen or so over the years by hosting these parties. I think they went out of business in the late 90s. All of ours were bought between 1992 and 1998.

The artists they used were mostly unknown names, although they did carry a nice selection of Thomas Kinkade paintings. Wish we had gotten some but they were a bit more expensive.

I've never been able to find any information on the artists from the labels on the back.

    The curiosity builds

Just wanted to chime in and say MEEE TOOO. I'm actually from MI, (not any more though) closer to Berrien than Kalamazoo but my mom has works from the mysterious Marie Charlot. Just wondering where all these great artists ended up, if they're living, if any of them ever made a living with their art. Someday someone will find the answers, even if we have to wait till heaven.

    creative galleries

creative galleries was a party type venue of oil paintings, also known to be affiliated with artistic impressions, which also closed, but has opened in canada. The "original" oil paintings are churned out over and over by in house artists, using fake names, such as L.Mason and S.Roberts. I have a couple myself, that i was lucky enough to pick up at 3.00 ea. in a thrift store. The value will not appreciate with age. They are however, nice paintings, just enjoy them!

I too have a painting from Creative Art Galleries. I think my Grandmother bought it at a yard sale. It is a city scene painted in oil and signed by "Barcello". It's absolutely beautiful. Sadly, I can't find anything about this artist on the web. I am curious how much it is worth.

This is an old thread that still seems to be active every now and again, so I thought I would post what I know about Creative Galleries. I have 2 paintings that I purchased from Creative Galleries, which was not an art gallery, but a direct sales company that operated like Tupperware or Party Lite, etc. with home parties. I bought these in 1990 or 1991. My friend was a sales consultant with the company for a very short period of time and I had a home party for her. She showed a number of the paintings and then took orders. If I remember correctly, the paintings were done by various artists that were hired by the company to paint for them. That's why there are so many painting styles. I also cannot read the signature of the artist. I don't know how valuable they are. For some reason that I cannot remember, I went to their location to pick up my paintings. It was like a small warehouse with paintings in stacks waiting to be framed and shipped out. I am now getting ready to put them in a garage sale.
