Just purchased these two woodblock prints by noted Jamaican artist Vernal Reuben (one photo below) and have been trying to find out more about him. All I have found is that he's very well regarded (especially as a printmaker), and at one point moved to New York to work. I also found a reference to him in a Jamaican art auction catalog where one of his oil paintings was appraised at 60-80,000, but no accompanying information, and he's referenced on Petrine Archer's website. The former owner wrote on the back that he had been the head of the Jamaican School of Art, and that they had purchased these two prints during a visit to Jamaica in 1978. Any thoughts/references/information greatly appreciated.
